PAINT THE TOWN BLUE BAND SELECTION PROCESS

The following policies and procedures will give the Pikes Peak Blues Community a standard, publicized practice for selecting member bands to perform in PPBC produced shows and provide a consistent and fair approach to selecting opening acts for national act headliner shows from the PPBC member bands so that each has an equal opportunity to be selected.

1) The bands under consideration:

a) are current PPBC member bands;
b) have submitted a promo pack to the PPBC;
c) are active (have a performance schedule OR are willing to give audition);

2) In addition to the above, the bands under consideration for opening for Pikes Peak Blues Community produced National Acts:

a) have expressed interest in and agreed to perform a ½ hour opening set for $100;
b) have not been selected to open for a PPBC sponsored national act within the previous 18 months.

3) The Band Selection Panel:

a) is made up of current PPBC board members and other interested parties directly involved in producing the particular national act that opening bands are being considered for who are willing and able to:

i) make themselves familiar with the national act and / or the event;
ii) make themselves familiar with all of the member bands expressing interest in being an opening act through reviewing promo packs and seeing live performances.

b) members will select all eligible member bands they think will be appropriate for the show / event at hand;
c) will agree on the list of appropriate eligible bands for that particular show / event by majority vote;
d) will randomly select eligible bands from that list for that particular show / event.
